Crash on Highway 43 injures four from Columbus, Kansas, one seriously

There’s been another accident on Highway 43, the scene of several serious accidents over the last few weeks.

This one took place about 4 miles south of Liberal around 11:30 Monday night.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says it happened when a northbound car driven by 47-year-old Clay O. Thixton of Columbus, Kansas ran off the roadway and overturned, ejecting Thixton.

He suffered serious injuries and was Med-Flighted to Freeman Hospital in Joplin.

Three other adult occupants in the car, all from Columbus, Kansas, suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg.
