Longest-serving Chief ever of Modoc Tribe dies
The Chief of the Modoc Tribe Bill G. Follis has died of an illness at a Joplin hospital.
Follis was 89 years of age.
He was the longest-serving Chief ever of the Tribe. He was a lifelong citizen of Miami, Oklahoma and had worked as a recycler and rancher.
He attended NEO had a degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University.
Follis became Chief of the Modoc Tribe in 1972 and served in that position for 50 years. He worked with a nationwide collective of Tribal Leaders, Presidents, Cabinet members and more.
Funeral services are pending.
