Man Sentenced 320 Years for Shooting Two Officers In Carter County
A man from southern Missouri’s Carter County will spend the rest of his life in prison for shooting two law enforcement officers and attempting to shoot two others.
James Cummings was convicted of four counts each of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer and four counts of armed criminal action.
Altogether, his sentences add up to 320 years in prison.
On August 16th, 2019, Cummings opened fire on two Carter County deputies and two state troopers as they were trying to evict him from a rental property.
The Missouri Attorney General’s office helped prosecute the case.
