The Parsons Police Department steps up overnight patrols with positive results
In the last few months there have been an increase in reported calls of suspicious persons and activity in the overnight hours. Officers have been stepping up their proactive efforts to identify nighttime prowlers and curb nefarious activities.
On Tuesday, October 11th, Officer Rory Johnson made two stops on suspicious persons that yielded two arrests. The first arrest was Timothy James Robinson, 38 of Parsons, who was stopped and found to have three active Parsons Municipal Warrants for his arrest. All warrants were for Failure to Appear. Robinson was arrested without incident and transported to jail. Robinson has an extensive criminal history involving Narcotics and Theft related cases.
John Marshall Ray Brown, 40 of Parsons, was also stopped and found to have an active warrant out of Montgomery County for Failure to Appear as well as being found with illegal narcotics on his person. Brown was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance though the Labette County District Court. He was processed into the jail without incident. Brown is waiting for transportation to Montgomery County for the warrant arrest.
Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, “this is a great example of a hard-working officer making good proactive stops and making good arrests. This kind of proactivity is what police work is all about. It has been a struggle with our current staffing level to be as proactive as we would like our agency to be. We now have Detectives and Administration covering shifts and working mandatory overtime to supplement the critical staffing levels. Officer Johnson just shows that our current recruiting model is effectively working. It is a slow process but the quality of officers we are getting is what really counts.”
