“On 09-27-22, Michael Durison was taken back into custody. He had escaped custody on 09-18-22 while being treated at Freeman Hospital in Neosho. At that time he assaulted a Corrections Officer and managed to flee the hospital.
After following several tips Newton County Detectives and the Joplin Police Department took Durison into custody in a travel trailer located at McCoy/West 20th in Joplin. A 20-year-old female was taken into custody at the same time. Charges are being requested against her for hindering prosecution.
Durison was originally being held for charges in Louisiana. He now faces numerous charges in Newton County as well. Those charges are First Degree Assault, First Degree Robbery, Armed Criminal Action, Disarming a Corrections Officer and Escape from Custody. He is being held without bond at this time.
I want to thank all the agencies that assisted with the search during the original escape as well as all assistance given to apprehend Durison in Joplin.
