Carthage mourns CHS assistant principal, Dr. Sam Rogers
The Carthage school system and countless students and colleagues are mourning one of their own.
The Carthage School District announced over the weekend that Carthage High School assistant principal Sam Rogers has died.
Rogers grew up in Carthage and attended Carthage High School.
Rogers was a 21- year veteran teacher in the Webb City, Joplin and Carthage School Districts.
Rogers earned his bachelor of science degree in elementary education in 1996 from University of Missouri in Columbia and Master of Educational Administration (K-12) in 2005 from William Woods University in Fulton.
He went on to earn his Education Specialist in Administration-Superintendent Certification in 2010 from Missouri State University in Springfield and Doctorate in Educational Administration in 2014 from Lindenwood University in St. Charles.
Rogers, whose wife Allison is a school librarian in Joplin, leaves behind two children who are students at Carthage HIgh School.
Rogers was 50 years old.
