Early-morning fire destroys home in Prosperity area

A fire destroyed a home in the Prosperity area early this morning.

The Duenweg Fire Department responded to the report of the fire at 19910 Ely Road around 2 a.m.

When fire units and deputies arrived, the residence was engulfed in flames.

Firefighters from the Webb City, Joplin, Carterville, Carthage and Oronogo responded to the call.

The residence was completely destroyed.

It appeared no one was at home at the time of the blaze.

There were no injuries. The cause is under investigation.
