CJ Bluegrass Festival receives Tourism, Arts & Humanities grant
.September 12, 2022- The Carl Junction Area Chamber of Commerce has been selected to participate in the pilot year of the new Horizons initiative created by Missouri Humanities, Missouri Arts Council, and Missouri Division of Tourism.
Nine organizations were selected to participate and received $10,000 grants from Missouri Humanities to support cultural events open to the public and meet specific criteria throughout the state of Missouri.
“The Carl Junction Area Chamber of Commerce is so excited to use this grant for the newest addition to the 25th Anniversary Carl Junction Bluegrass Festival called “Explore at the Park!” said Cavanaugh Studyvin, Executive Director for the Carl Junction Area Chamber of Commerce.
“You can expect even more activities for festival attendees of all ages,” she adds. “We have partnered with Spiva Center for the Arts, Joplin Mineral & History Museum, Sherwood/Rader Civil War Park, and Missouri Southern State University to bring FREE art workshops, exhibits, and history booths.”
Studyvin says included will be a fun mammoth dig (a nod to the reputed 1800s discovery of Wooly Mammoths in Carl Junction) for the kids and FREE giveaways throughout the day.”
