On Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at approximately 19:34 hrs, the Neosho Police Department was dispatched to a traffic crash in the 1000 block of S. Neosho Blvd.

Upon Officers’ arrival it was determined a total of three vehicles were involved in the crash with two entrapped.

The crash occurred as a 1995 Ford F-150 pulled across the roadway into the path of two northbound vehicles. It was determined the Ford F-150 was first struck by a northbound passenger vehicle in the outside traffic lane and then again by a second sport utility vehicle in the inside northbound traffic lane.

Officers determined that two occupants were ejected from the truck bed area of the Ford F-150 upon impact. Three occupants were transported by ground ambulance to Mercy-Joplin, two with moderate injuries and one fatal injury to the third occupant, 39-year old Jeremy Olmstead, of Neosho, who was pronounced deceased upon arrival at Mercy. The next of kin has been notified.

Per State Law, all drivers were tested for blood alcohol content, and it was determined the driver of the Ford F-150 was under the influence of intoxicants. Pending the completion of the investigation, charges will be submitted to the Newton County Prosecutor’s Office for review.
