White Coat Ceremony planned at Pitt State
This Friday,Sept. 9th, the Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing at Pittsburg State University anticipates about 100 nursing students will participate in a White Coat Ceremony
The ceremony will begin at 12:30 in the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.
Speakers will include Dean Mary Carol Pomatto and graduate Major Kyle Zahn, BSN.
Medical schools have conducted white-coat ceremonies for years, but schools of nursing only recently began to adopt the practice.
Professor Barbara McClaskey at Pittsburg State University says the ceremony is a tangible way to impress on students the importance of compassion and patient-centered care.
The White Coat ceremony is being made possible by a grant from the Arnold P. Gold Foundation.
The public is welcome to attend
