‘A Taste of Czechia’ to spotlight cuisine from the Czech Republic
Joplin, MO – Cuisine from the Czech Republic will be on the menu during “A Taste of Czechia” from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, in Mayes Dining Hall at Missouri Southern State University.
The event is presented as part of the Czech Semester and will feature traditional food prepared by executive chef Saul Paniagua from Fresh Ideas – Missouri Southern’s food service provider.
Dishes will include pork schnitzel, bread dumplings, jam-filled donuts and much more.
“It’s very old school,” said Paniagua. “They’re unique, traditional recipes that I am learning for the first time and I am excited to share it with the dining hall.”
Dr. Chad Stebbins, director of the Institute of International Studies, said one would have to drive a long way to find a Czechian restaurant.
“We appreciate Fresh Ideas for creating a menu that will give students, faculty, and the community the opportunity to sample some Czech food,” he said. “I’m a big fan of Czech goulash, and paprika is my favorite spice, so I’m really looking forward to this event.”
Admission is $13, while students will be admitted with their ID.
