Juvenile injured in Thursday accident on I-49 near Joplin
An accident on I-49 about six miles south of Joplin on Thursday has resulted in serious injuries to a juvenile passenger of one of the cars involved.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred just after noon when a northbound vehicle driven by 43-year-old Gwendolynn Sampson of Joplin ploughed into the rear of a vehicle, also northbound, driven by 45-year-old Sandra Feezell, also of Joplin.
Both adults received only minor injuries but a 4 year old male juvenile occupant in Feezell’s car was seriously injured and was transferred to Mercy Springfield by Lifeflight.
The Patrol says child was wearing a safety device at the time of the accident.
