Grove man being sought after offering children candy in SEK park

Authorities in southeast Kansas are searching for a man from Grove, Oklahoma, who was allegedly seen offering children candy and asking for their home addresses. Read the full press release from Crawford County below:

On July 31, 2022 at approximately 1:45 P.M., it was report that an older white male subject driving a white in color 2011 Chevrolet Corvette convertible contacted several male juveniles at a park in Cherokee, Kansas.

The subject, wearing underwear and a shirt, showed the children his car and gave them large bags of candy. He asked the children for their home address, which one of them provided.

The subject told the juveniles he would come by their house at a later time and “rev his engine” so they could come out and get more candy. He then left the area. The subject was identified as Kirk William Owen.

On August 3, 2022 at approximately 9:30 A.M., Owen, driving the same white Corvette convertible, returned and was stopped by a neighbor as he was driving by the same children’s residence in Cherokee, Kansas. After being confronted by the neighbor, Owen fled the area and has not been located.
