Royals Trade All-Star Andrew Benintendi
The Kansas City Royals have traded outfielder, Andrew Benintendi, to the New York Yankees. The Royals swapped Benintendi for three of the Yankees’ prospects.
It appears to be rebuild time for the Royals, who sit at the bottom of the standings in the American League Central Division. The Royals have struggled all year and it does not appear to be shifting any time soon. The Royals seem to want to build around highly touted Bobby Whitt Jr. Adding the three pitching prospects, two of which are top twenty five prospects per the MLB Pipeline, will hopefully brighten the future of the organization.
The Yankees, who sit at the top of the AL East and second in the MLB, added Benintendi to solidify a World Series run. While the Yankees have distanced themselves from the rest of their division, are now trying to out pace the rest of the MLB. They hope to have found the missing piece in Benintendi, who is batting .320 with three homeruns, and 39 RBI’s. Benintendi is also a great outfielder, as he was a Gold Glover in 2021. The Yankees seemingly are always “World Series or bust,” and this move strengthens the order of one of the top contenders.
