Ever wanted to go to Comic Con? JoMoCon is coming to Joplin!
Well, it’s not quite Comic con but this Saturday, July 30th, from 10am to 7pm, will be the debut of a new cultural event in Joplin: JoMoCon. This is a convention for pop culture enthusiasts.
Anime, sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming are just a few of the themes. Some people are familiar with events like “Comic-Con”, but many in the Four-State area have never experienced a convention. JoMoCon aims to give them that experience at Pennington Station at 518 Virginia Ave., between 4th & 6th Street.
Attendees will enjoy gaming, insightful presentations, browsing the creations of local artists, and a Cosplay Pageant of their favorite pop culture characters. To top it all off, they are excited to be hosting special guest John Gremillion. John is a Houston, TX based voice-actor who’s talents can be heard in many prominent anime series, including My Hero Academia and One Piece.
Admission is $10, and children 5 and under are free. Admission may be purchased online, or in Pennington Station during the convention. A substantial portion of the admission sales will be donated to the kids of Ozark Center’s Turn Around Ranch in Joplin.
