It’s that time of year again.
Scammers are coming out of the woodwork wanting to “help” you pave your driveway or parking lot.
But watch out: What they really want to do is rip you off.
“If somebody pulls up and says ‘I have these jobs left over from down the street,’ that’s a red flag,” says Stephanie Garland, Regional Director of the Better Business Bureau.
“If they’re going to take cash and do the job now and all you have to do is pay a portion of it, be very cautious. You usually should have to book someone out for that,” she adds.
She says if the business is not accredited on the BBB website isn’t listed or has a caution flag attached you need to ask more questions.
