Morning accident injures elderly Anderson resident

A rear-end collission on Missouri 59 about 1/2 mile north of Goodman just after 9 Friday morning has resulted in serious injuries to a man from Anderson.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a northbound 2016 Buick Enclave driven by 28-year-old Chelsea Hernandez of Goodman crashed into the rear of a northbound 1971 Ford F-150 pickup driven by 79-year-old William E. McElley of Anderson.

The impact caused McElley’s truck to travel off the roadway and overturn.

McElley was transferred by ambulance to Freeman West in Joplin suffering serious injuries.

Hernandez was not injured.
