Pittsburg Police investigate aggravated robbery
Two men are in custody and police in Pittsburg, Kansas, are searching for another after a reported aggravated robbery over the weekend. Read the full press release below:
On July 2, 2022 at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers with the Pittsburg Police Department were called to the 1000 block of Amber Dr. concerning a report of a male attempting to enter someone’s residence. Officers arrived in the area and made contact with a 32-year-old male who had injuries to his face.
The male reported being attacked and beaten by four men, one of whom took his wallet and left the area. He further reported that one of the suspect’s pointed a firearm at him during the incident. The male victim reported the other suspects had just left the area in a black truck.
Officers in the area conducted a traffic stop on the truck identified by the victim. Three male subjects were located within the vehicle. They were identified as 45-year–old Jeffrey David Broyles, of Arma; 38-year-old Matthew Allen Broyles, of Arma; and 26-year-old Jackson Bayer, of Colorado. Bayer escaped from officers on foot after being identified. Jeffrey Broyles, a convicted felon, was found to be in possession of a handgun.
The victim was initially treated at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg and was then transported by ambulance to Freeman Hospital in Joplin, where he was last reported to be in stable condition.
Jeffrey Broyles was arrested, without incident, and charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was transported to the Crawford County Jail where he is currently being held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
