KZRG SPORTS: NBA FREE AGENCY
Free agency has officially opened up quickly with tons of money going to some big names all across the NBA.
Nikola Jokic set the bar high by inking his name on the richest contract in NBA history. Jokic signed a $264 million-dollar supermax extension with the Denver Nuggets. Other big names staying home with their original teams include Ja Morant, Karl-Anthony Townes, and Devin Booker.
Other superstars are expected to make big decisions on their futures, but none bigger than Kevin Durant. Durant has had an interesting tenure with the Brooklyn Nets. There has been up and down drama with the nets since Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving joined the roster. From injuries to vaccination-related suspensions, the team that once looked to be sure locks for the title has quickly fallen apart. Both Durant and Irving have requested trades away from the Nets, looking for new starts with new teams. Each having given the Nets a list of preferred destinations.
The NBA has been crazier than ever with teams adding superstars left and right, each trying tocreate the best super-team. The association’s biggest stars have bounced around more than we have ever seen. Chasing championships and the biggest payouts have resulted on little to no loyalty to their former teams. We don’t know what to expect from the rest of the NBA summer and it looks to have just begun. Durant’s final landing spot could reshape one side of the league. He will be the apple of a lot of teams’ eyes during these next few weeks. We could see new Finals favorites pop of from coast to coast
