The 2023 Safe Oklahoma Grant is now open for local law enforcement agencies
OKLAHOMA CITY – Attorney General John O’Connor announced the application period for the 2023 Safe Oklahoma Grant is now open and is encouraging local law enforcement agencies and county sheriff’s departments to apply.
The Attorney General’s Safe Oklahoma Grant Program provides sheriff’s offices and local law enforcement agencies with additional resources to address violent crime in the state. The money from the grant helps pay overtime costs for officers, technology upgrades, enhanced analytical capabilities and community partnership projects that focus on preventing violent crime.
“Each year, the Safe Oklahoma Grant helps our law enforcement partners do their job better and reduce violent crime,” said Attorney General O’Connor. “My office is privileged to play a role in creating a safer environment in local communities across the state by facilitating applications and distributing this funding. I encourage all local law enforcement agencies in Oklahoma to take advantage of this program.”
The deadline for agencies to submit applications is Wednesday, July 20th. Please go to the Attorney General’s webpage at https://www.oag.ok.gov/safe-
Established in 2012, the Attorney General’s Safe Oklahoma Grant Program is funded by an annual appropriation from the state legislature. All sheriff’s and other local law enforcement agencies, including campus police, are eligible for the grant. Grants are made for a one-year period.
