Multiple media outlets are reporting that retired NASCAR racer Clint Bowyer was involved in a fatal pedestrian crash earlier this month at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The crash happened June Fifth shortly before Nine P-M when Bowyer struck a woman walking along a ramp along westbound U-S 54 in Lake Ozark.
Police say Bowyer immediately stopped, called 9-1-1, and helped guide first responders to the woman, 47-year-old Mary Jane Simmons of Camdenton.
She was pronounced dead. According to the police report, a crystal substance was found in Simmon’s belongings and authorities believe she may have been under the influence of meth at the time of the accident.
Bowyer issued a statement saying his “thoughts and prayers” are with Simmons’ family.
