BBB: Beware of Payday Loan ads on social media

Payday Loan ads have been appearing on Tik Tok, Twitter, Facebook and other forms of social media.

The ads are providing an avenue for a new form of scam.

So says Stephanie Garland, Regional Director of the Better Business Bureau. She says it’s easy for people in need of money to be taken in.

“They may be short on cash and might need the money right now,” she says. “We want for you to be very cautious. Unfortunately, it’s not legitimate.”

“People are thinking they are signing up for a real payday loan,” Garland adds. “Unfortunately, they’re giving their information to a scammer.”

Garland says don’t believe everything you read on a social media platform. Instead, do your research and go to bbb.org for more information.
