Independence, Kansas attempted murder suspect arrested
INDEPENDENCE, Kan. – The Independence Police Department (IPD) has arrested 39-year-old Brian Medsker for suspicion of attempted murder and other related charges.
The charges stem from an investigation earlier this month in which a vehicle is alleged to have intentionally struck a bicyclist.
At about 8:38 p.m. Saturday, IPD received a call that Medsker was on a motorized bicycle in the city. Medsker led officers on a pursuit for about 18 blocks. Medsker abandoned the bike and fled on foot then returned to the bike.
The pursuit continued as Medsker went off the roadway still fleeing on the bike. Medsker was then taken into custody. There were no injuries or damages reported during the incident.
Medsker is being held in the Montgomery County Department of Corrections on a $750,000 bond for felony flee and elude, felony interference with a law enforcement officer, attempted murder and other related charges.
IPD has opened an investigation to determine who helped Medsker elude police for nine days. Two persons were arrested for felony interference June 7th. Search warrants are being sought to gather evidence and more arrests are expected.
