Texas man drowns trying to save son in northeast Oklahoma

Authorities have identified the man that drowned Saturday afternoon in southern Delaware County in northeast Oklahoma.

The Grand River Damn Authority says 42-year-old Jose James-Flores of Tyler, Texas, went into the water after the boy jumped in the water from the Flint Creek Dam, near Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

The GRDA says both were underwater for 5-7 minutes before being rescued by nearby residents who gave them CPR.

The boy was revived on the scene but James-Flores died at a local hospital.
