Pittsburg man facing murder charges related to May 13 shooting
Pittsburg Police have made an arrested related to a May 13 murder, as they continue to follow up on several leads.

During the on-going investigation into the shooting of Stephanie Short and Velma Cubie on May 13, 2022, in Pittsburg, it was determined multiple individuals exchanged gunfire resulting in the death of Short and the injury to Cubie.
This investigation led to the development of 19-year-old Dominik Samuel Short, of Pittsburg, as one of the shooting suspects. An arrest warrant was issued for Dominik Short on May 18, 2022.
On May 26, 2022, at approximately 5:34 p.m., Dominik Short was taken into custody without incident, pursuant to this warrant, by the U.S. Marshals and deputies with Greene County Sheriff’s Office in Springfield, Missouri.
He is being charged with Murder in the 1st Degree, Criminal Discharge of a Firearm at an Occupied Building, Aggravated Battery, and Aggravated Assault. Dominik Short is being held in Missouri awaiting extradition back to Kansas.
