Traffic accident on Missouri 171 injures two

A two vehicle crash on Missouri 171 south of Brooklyn Heights around 12:30 yesterday afternoon resulted in injuries to two Carthage residents.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the accident occurred when a 1999 BMW driven by 22-year-old Keenan J. Barnard went off the highway, hit a MoDOT sign and overturned.

Barnard was ejected from the vehicle.  After he was thrown from the vehicle, the car went on to hit a tree and a rock before it came to rest.

The Patrol report says Barnard and a passenger, 18-year-old Zildjian Sylva,  were transferred to a Joplin hospital both suffering moderate injuries.
