Coffeyville man arrested for murder, obstruction of justice
MONTGOMERY COUNTY – A man has been arrested for murder following an investigation by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI), the Coffeyville Police Department, and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
On Monday, May 23, David A. Jackson, 61, of Coffeyville, was arrested for suspected first-degree murder related to the death of 47-year-old Melvin Simpson Jr.
He was also arrested for criminal possession of a weapon, felony obstruction of justice, and unlawful discharge of a weapon.
At the time of the new charges, he was already in custody at the Montgomery County Jail.
The investigation is ongoing.
