Springfield 5-year-old killed after being run over Saturday

Springfield Police say a young child was killed Saturday evening when he was run over by a vehicle.

Police say the child was riding on a trailer pulled by a pick-up truck on private property at 3751 W. Division.

The child, Gabe Lowry, 5, fell from the trailer and was run over.

Officers arrived and began life-saving measures. Lowry was transported to the hospital by ambulance where he later died.

The Springfield Police Department’s Traffic Section continues to investigate the circumstances involved in this incident.

This was the 7th fatal motor vehicle accident in Springfield in 2022.
