Joplin arson investigation

An arson investigation is underway at the Joplin Holiday Inn at 34th and Arizona Avenue. 

According to Joplin Police Captain William Davis smoke was detected around 1:15 Saturday afternoon in a bathroom near the bar.   

When emergency personnel arrived, no active fire was found.   

An employee reported taking some charred items from the trash can to an outside bin.
