Missouri’s Roy Blunt on Ukraine “survival package”
Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri provided an update on Congress’s negotiations for an additional aid package to Ukraine.
Blunt stressed the importance of providing non-military aid to help alleviate disruptions in agriculture production caused by Putin’s invasion. Blunt also stressed the importance that speed plays into this matter saying that, “The number one element is speed… The Ukrainians need what they need as quickly as we can get them what they need.”
There has been recent concern surrounding where it is the money and supplies the US has already sent to Ukraine have gone. Blunt weighed in saying that he spoke with the ambassador about the direct aid to their government and that he was, “very satisfied with her explanation of how they dealt with that first billion dollars of aid. Got it through the—put it in and got it through the IMF, prepared to give all of the information anybody would like to see as how that aid is used.”
