Father of alleged murderer charged with tampering with physical evidence

The father of an alleged murderer from Joplin is now facing charges for allegedly helping his son bury the victim’s body in a 45-foot deep well on his property.

On April 28th, the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office filed charges against the suspect, 40-year-old Damyon D. Fisher, for Murder in the 2nd Degree and Armed Criminal Action. Bond was denied and Fisher remains in custody at this time.

Those charges stem from an incident on March 18, when Damyon Fisher got into an argument with 36-year-old Scotty Roller, of Neosho, over the purchase of a vehicle on 2502 E. Vandalia Street in Joplin.

During the disagreement, Damyon retrieved a handgun from his waistband and shot Roller in the back as he was fleeing.

Additionally, Detectives with the Joplin Police Department have submitted charges against 64-year-old Eddie W. Fisher, of Seneca, Missouri.

Eddie Fisher is the father of Damyon Fisher. Eddie was allegedly present at the address on Vandalia Street when Roller was shot and killed.

Following the shooting, Eddie assisted Damyon in wrapping the victim in a rug, loading the body into his vehicle and transporting it to his address at 20364 Crane Drive in Seneca, where he assisted in dumping the victims body in a well.

Charges of Tampering with Physical Evidence (class E Felony) have been submitted to the Jasper County  Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Eddie Fisher remains in custody in the Newton County Jail.
