Tractor-trailer unit hits pickup on I-44

The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash of a tractor trailor unit on I-44, about 3 miles east of Fidelity shortly after 9 last night.

The Patrol says the accident occurred when a westbound 2021 Volvo Tractor Trailer driven by 45-year-old Robert A. Jones of Oklahoma City, struck a westbound 2015 Ram Truck driven by 68-year old Lisadawn McCabe of Olathe, Kansas.

The pickup ran off the roadway and overturned. The Tractor Trailer ran off the roadway and hit a guardrail and a bridge overpass. .

Jones and a passenger in his tractor-trailer, 63-year-old Robert D. Bettis of Edmond, Oklahoma were seriously injured.  McCabe was also seriously injured.

All three were transported to Mercy Joplin hospital.
