Joplin Schools announces two new Assistant Principals

Joplin Schools is pleased to announce two new Assistant Principals in the Joplin R-VIII School.

They are Breanna Faircloth, the new Assistant Principal at Irving Elementary and Vickie Gilbert, the new Assistant Principal at Cecil Floyd Elementary

Faircloth

Faircloth succeeds Jordan Adkins, who was recently named principal of Irving Elementary for 2022-23. 

Mrs. Faircloth served as a first grade teacher for six years at Webb City Schools. She also served as the assistant girls’ basketball coach for nine years. 

Mrs. Faircloth is a Webb City High School graduate. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Missouri Southern State University. She also holds a first through sixth grade teaching certificate. Mrs. Faircloth received her Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University. 

She has been married to her husband, Christopher, for 12 years. They have two children: a five-year-old son, Jett, and a two-year-old son, Baker.

Gilbert

Gilbert has served for the past six years in various elementary education roles with Joplin Schools, and succeeds Kris Garrett, who was recently named principal of Cecil Floyd Elementary for 2022-23. 

Mrs. Gilbert previously taught for five years in Independence, Kansas. She began her Joplin career teaching fourth grade at West Central Elementary. She then moved into a fifth grade teaching position at Cecil Floyd, where she has served for two years, adding the role of Literacy Teacher for one year.

Since moving to Joplin, Mrs. Gilbert has acted as Fifth Grade Reading Department head, served on several leadership committees and recently completed participation in Joplin Schools’ Aspiring Leadership cohort. 

Mrs. Gilbert received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Emporia State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Sterling University. Mrs. Gilbert also received a Master’s degree in K-12 Education Administration from Missouri State University. 

Mrs. Gilbert and her husband, Jerry, have three children: Jarrett, Kiana, and Jr.. They are active in service through Destiny Church, serving the Joplin community and spending time with family.
