Lawrence County accident takes pedestrian’s life
A pedestrian is dead after a crash around 7:30 Friday morning on private property off Chapell drive at the Monett City Limits in Lawrence County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred when a 2000 Freightliner driven by 49-year-old Troy A. Dunlop of Exeter struck the trailer of a parked vehicle and then struck the pedestrian, 69-year-old Randy D. Hance of Rolla.
Hance reportedly had been working on a semi-truck just before he was hit. He was pronounced dead at a Monett hospital.
As required by law, Dunlop was tested for alcohol.
It was the 27th fatality for the Highway Patrol’s Troop D in southwest Missouri so far in 2022.
