Friday afternoon police pursuit; One arrested
A high-speed pursuit Friday afternoon resulted in one arrest, two vehicles being wrecked and one person being taken to a Joplin hospital with still-unspecified injuries.
It started in Newton County with deputies there chasing a vehicle, identified as a 1997 Jeep Wrangler, that had been reported stolen in Jasper County.
When the vehicles reached 20th and Schifferdecker, one vehicle struck an SUV from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.
One person was transported to a hospital in Joplin.
After the crash, the chase continued on Schifferdecker heading north. The Jeep Wranger was eventually abandoned near Schifferdecker and Zora.
A foot pursuit began with one person running into an off-road area.
That subject was taken into custody around 4:30 p.m.
Charges are pending in both counties and the City of Joplin.
