Hartzer, other Republicans push Biden Admin. to “reprioritize” China as a threat
Missouri Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler has joined 15 other House Republicans in calling on U-S Attorney General Merrick Garland to “reprioritize” the Communist-led Chinese government as a national security threat.
In a statement issued by Hartzler’s office, she and other Republican representatives criticize the Biden Administration’s decision to shut down the “China Initiative” earlier this year.
The program was launched by the Trump Administration in 2018 to counter the threat of Chinese espionage targeting high-tech industries, university research, and intellectual properties.
The Justice department says, though, the program was canceled because it was used to racially profile Chinese academics, and that a new, “broader approach” to combatting espionage is in the works.
Hartzer and other G-O-P lawmakers are demanding more details about the Biden Administration’s plans.
