Woman huffed air duster spray, wrecked car with 6-year-old inside
Pleads guilty to felony child endangerment . . .
A 34-year-old woman from Carterville has pleaded guilty to felony child endangerment.
Justina M. Sauls admitted that she had huffed air duster spray in 2019 just prior to having an auto accident on I-44 in Jasper County with her 6-year-old daughter in the car.
Witnesses reported seeing her weaving all over the eastbound lanes of I-44 before driving off the highway into the median and driving through the grass of the median before finally crashing into a median cable.
The plea, part of plea deal with prosecutors, dismissed DUI and driving without insurance charges.
Judge Dean Dankelson sentenced Sauls to four years in jail but suspended the sentence and placed her on supervised probation for a period of five years.
She will have to pay just over $300 in restitution.
