Freeman COVID unit finally empty of patients
Hospital CEO calls it a "day of celebration"
There were some long-awaited words today from the head of Joplin’s Freeman Hospital.
“This is a day of celebration,” Freeman President/CEO Paula Baker said.
“I am standing in the COVID Unit of Freeman Health System and I am very pleased to tell you it is empty of patients. We have zero patients today.”
Baker made the announcement at a morning news conference.
Deaths are down dramatically nationwide from the coronavirus.
Baker says the best tool that has been developed since the pandemic began is the vaccination.
She says becoming fully vaccinated is still the best way to keep from getting COVID-19 and to lessen its impact if you do contract it.
