Joplin McDonald’s to host fundraiser for fallen JPD Officers’ families
UPDATE: Local McDonald’s restaurants in Joplin hosted a fundraiser that raised $2,000 that will be donated to the families of Corporal Ben Cooper and Officer Jake Reed and to the benevolence fund for Officer Rick Hirshey.
“We are incredibly taken aback by the support of our customers who came out to enjoy a meal from us that would in turn benefit Corporal Ben Cooper and Officer Jake Reed’s families along with funds to support Officer Rick Hirshey as he recovers,” said local McDonald’s Owner/Operator Alex Maffei. “On behalf of myself and fellow Joplin area Owner/Operator Thomas Nichols, I would like to say, thank you to those who stopped by.”

McDonald’s restaurants in Joplin are hosting a fundraiser on Thursday, March 31st from 4 – 7 p.m., where a portion of the night’s proceeds will be donated to the families of fallen Joplin Police Corporal Ben Cooper and Officer Jake Reed.
Community members are invited to simply order their McDonald’s favorites during the event to participate at any Joplin area McDonald’s restaurants.
“I, along with my fellow Joplin area Owner/Operator Alex Maffei, are deeply saddened by the tragic incident that occurred a few weeks ago,” said McDonald’s Owner/Operator of Joplin, Thomas Nichols. “By having this event in our restaurants, it allows our team, customers and community to show support for our local police department and the families of Corporal Ben Cooper and Officer Jake Reed.”
