Multiple vehicle pursuits in Vernon County: Two taken into custody

Two taken into custody

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office released information about multiple vehicle pursuits  that took place throughout the week.

According to officials, deputies attempted to make a  traffic stop on a vehicle early Tuesday morning near BB Highway and E. Quail Road. The  vehicle failed to stop, and deputies pursued the vehicle onto F Highway, where the driver  lost control and slid into a ditch.

The driver has been identified as 32-year-old  Stephen Romesburg of Nevada. No injuries were reported. 

Romesburg was wanted on multiple warrants that included Driving While Revoked,  Failure to Register Motor Vehicle, Delivery of Controlled Substance, Possession of  Controlled Substance, and Resisting Arrest. Romesburg was also wanted by Probation  and Parole. He is currently being held at the Vernon County Jail without bond. 

Late Wednesday night, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on Washington St. in Nevada when he saw a driver that was a suspect in a theft that occurred earlier in the  night. The vehicle failed to stop, and the deputy pursued the vehicle west of town where multiple other units responded to assist. Deputies pursued the vehicle until it took a  wrong turn off 900 road and ended up in a muddy field. The driver then fled on foot but  was apprehended a short time later by a deputy.

* The driver has been identified as 33- year-old Daniel Graham Jr of Nevada.

Graham had an active warrant for Burglary, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Property Damage. Graham is currently being held at the  Vernon County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

A third pursuit took place Friday morning when a deputy attempted to make a  traffic stop on a vehicle involving suspicious activity. The vehicle fled West of Nevada but, due to the speeds and conditions of the road, the deputy terminated the pursuit.

* A  vehicle matching the description was located later Friday morning abandoned near V  Hwy and E Baily Road. Deputies were notified the vehicle had been reported stolen.
