Freeman presents DAISY Award to CVOR Nurse Lee

JOPLIN, Mo. – Cardiovascular Operating Room nurse Christopher Lee, RN received Freeman Hospital’s DAISY Award today. The Award recognizes nurses for going above and beyond, and for having a caring attitude.

Cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) nurses are an integral part of the team at the Freeman Heart & Vascular Institute. The CVOR team provides care for about one thousand patients each year.

“Chris has immensely enhanced our team through the pandemic,” said Dr. Vetsch. “Chris is a selfless, hardworking team member who, as young as he is, has a clear situational awareness and the people skills to lead the patient flow in our operating room with clear attention to all details.”

Lee was nominated by his peers.

The DAISY Award was created in 1999 in memory of J. Patrick Barnes by his family to say, “thank you”, to nurses who gave him skillful and compassionate care during his eight-week hospitalization.

Nurses are nominated by anyone connected to the organization – patients, family members, other nurses, physicians, other clinicians and staff – anyone who experiences or observes extraordinary compassionate care being provided by a nurse

Nomination forms and drop boxes are located throughout all Freeman hospitals. A convenient QR code can be used to nominate a nurse, or nominations can be submitted online at freemanhealth.com/for-nurses.
