Civil judgement of $29.6 million leveled against convicted sexual abuser
Former Kanakuk Kamps counselor Peter Newman was already convicted in criminal court of sexually abusing children.
Now, Springfield television station KY3 reports, he will have to pay a civil court judgment of $29.6 million to his victims.
Newman was sentenced to two life terms in prisons 12 years ago after pleading guilty to seven counts of sex crimes involving young boys.
The civil case was decided in early February in court in Christian County in favor of six of his victims, now young men.
The men said they were sexually abused as children by Newman.
