Pickup leaves road, crashes into objects in yard

It was a fairly quiet on Gum Road about 3 miles east of Cartervillle last night.

At least until 10:45 p.m.

That’s when the Missouri State Highway Patrol accident report says a 2001 Ford F-150 operated by 23-year-old James L. Thomas of Nevada failed to negotiate a curve and struck multiple objects in a yard in that area.

The report says the truck suffered extensive damage and Thomas didn’t have any insurance.

He also wasn’t wearing a safety device.

He was transported to Freeman West hospital in Joplin with moderate injuries.
