Farm road crash leaves Purdy man in serious condition

An older model car is totaled and its driver reported to be in serious condition, after a crash on a farm road about 2 miles east of Wheaton.

The accident took place around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday morning in Barry County when a 2003 Ford Taurus driven by 23-year-old Perry E. Tallant of Purdy traveled off the right side of Farm Road 1029, struck an embankment and smashed into a tree.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Tallant was not wearing a safety device.

He was transported by South Barry County Ambulance to a Joplin hospital.
