Carthage man injures two deputies while fleeing courtroom

A man from Carthage is facing further charges after he allegedly assaulted two deputies while fleeing a courtroom inside the Joplin Courts Building Monday morning.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office says at approximately 10:25 AM on Monday, January 24th, 2022, Judge Gayle Crane court-ordered 21-year-old Jacob Lee Jones to be taken into custody.

Jones then allegedly attempted to flee from the courtroom. He made it out into the hallway and into another area of the court where he was immediately apprehended. During the struggle, two deputies received minor injuries.
