McDonald County Sheriff’s office investigating inmate death last week

Officials from the McDonald County Sheriff’s office reportedly says they’ve been investigating the death of an inmate in custody.

McDonald County Sheriff Rob Evenson says 37-year-old John Cody Carriger was found unresponsive in his cell last Thursday.

Evenson says there were no signs of an assault or suicide.

Carriger had been in the jail for a week, after police seized what they say were methamphetamines, LSD and guns at his home outside of Goodman.

An autopsy was conducted last Friday. A preliminary report  says Carriger suffered a blood vessel rupture.

Authorities are waiting for a final report and will update the public when those results are available.
