Carthage Board approves Performing Arts Center vote
The Carthage School Board last night approved the placing of a measure on the April 5th ballot asking voters to provide funding for a new Performing Arts Center.
The PAC would be located on the campus of Carthage High School on River Street.
The Board approved the measure on a 5-2 vote.
School officials say there will be no tax increase but the current levy will be extended for two additional years to provide $18 million for the facility. Private fundraising also will take place.
The Center, if built, would replace the current auditorium in use since 1987.
The measure would need just over 57 percent approval to pass.
