Two Habitat for Humanity homes set for dedication Wednesday

Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity will have two home dedication ceremonies on Wednesday.

  • The first will take place at 2 p.m. at 510 S. Gray in Joplin for the Curl family.
  • The second  is slated for 3 p.m. at 310 Comingo Ave. in Joplin for the Thurman family.

In 2021, Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity constructed 9 new homes for partner families in need of better housing. These two homes are our 177th and 178th completed Habitat homes in the Joplin area. Habitat has their first ICF house (Insulated Concrete Forms) being constructed now through the group’s Veteran Build program.

Habitat plans to construct 8-10 homes in 2022.

Homeowner families are selected based on their income, need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner with Habitat. Each homeowner family is required to complete 200 to 300 hours of volunteer labor on their home, other family’s homes, or in the ReStore.

Once construction is completed, the house is sold to the new homeowner at no profit and no interest.

Joplin Area Habitat for Humanity is a non-for-profit, nondenominational Christian housing organization,Habitabringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.
