MO starts process to ask for federal disaster aid from last week’s storms
Missouri has begun the process to ask for federal disaster aid for residents affected by last week’s severe storms and deadly tornadoes.
A news release says Governor Mike Parson is requesting the Federal Emergency Management Agency to work with state and local partners to conduct preliminary damage assessments and review documentation from Dunklin, Pemiscot and Reynolds Counties in southeast Missouri.
At least six tornadoes hit Missouri last Friday, causing two deaths and damaging or destroying hundreds of homes and buildings.
The storms caused power outages that left more than 30,000 customers in the dark.
