The program offers high school students, mainly juniors and seniors, the chance to see life on a college campus while working toward a goal of getting into local industry.
The program will being in August 2022, with courses set to focus on health sciences, human services, and business/entrepreneurship.
The Joplin school district would be given 59 seats to fill, with the cost to fill each seat at $2,498.
That would cost the district $147,382 per year, which is a fee that has to be paid whether all the seats are filled or not.
A vote on the decision was set to be made last month but was delayed to survey students that were attending Joplin High School.
